Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s oldest and largest national park. It takes its name from the most powerful waterfall in the world. Located about 305km north of Kampala in the Masindi district, it is a home to 76 different mammal species and 451 birds. It is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45m over the valley wall, creating the dramatic falls and an 80km stretch of rapids.
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls
After an early breakfast, our driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00am. After a briefing on your upcoming safari, you will start the six-hour journey to Murchison Falls National Park. You will go through Luwero and stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to look for both black and white rhinos. After tracking some rhinos, we will stop in Masindi for lunch. We’ll then make our way into park and drive to the top of the falls. Along the way you will see various animals such as warthogs and baboons (among others). Being at the top of the falls is an amazing experience. You will watch the magnificent falls (the strongest in the world) squeezing through the rocks of an 8m gorge. Take as many photos as you can. Later you will drive to the lodge, where you will relax before dinner and your overnight stay.
